The Sega Genesis Game El Viento is a game for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive systems created by the company Renovation. It includes many elements from The Cthulhu Mythos, and concerns the activities of a Cult of Hastur called the Hastur Group in New York City in the 1920's.
The plot[]
In the game, a sorceress named Annette (or alternately Annet) who is descended by blood from the god, Hastur, must use her supernatural powers to prevent the Hastur Group from summoning Hastur to New York City. In this she is opposed by the members of the Hastur Group, including it's Bishop, Henry, and another sorceress descended from Hastur's accursed bloodline name Restiana. Besides these threats, the gangster, Vincent De Marco, is working with the Hastur Group for his own purposes.
During the course of the game, Annette runs afoul of many Mythos creatures who have been allied with the Hastur Group, including Byakhee, Night Gaunts, Migo, Serpent Men, and an earthly manifestation of Hastur himself.
The mechanics[]
The game El Viento is a sidescrolling platformer in the mode of Castlevania, Metroid and similar games. As Annette proceeds through the game, she can fight with sorcery (which must recharge after each use) and a metallic boomerang. During the games progress, her sorcerous powers will increase, allowing her to use new variants of her power.
