MR James was a ghost story writer much admired by H.P. Lovecraft. Although he did not contribute to The Carcosa Mythos, he has influenced those who have. The Mask At The Window was inspired by one of his unused ideas, adapted to the mythos. The Dollshouse in The Death of Art is modelled on a haunted house from one of his stories and he, also, appears, briefly, as a character in that novel.
