NEMESIS is a supernatural horror role-playing game, created by Dennis Detwiller, Greg Stolze and Shane Ivey, with game mechanics by Greg Stolze. The game is available electronically for free. NEMESIS uses the One-Roll Engine (ORE) gaming system, a dice pool system where matched die results determine success.

Setting[]

NEMESIS is a dark horror game which emulates the works of H. P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, Ambrose Bierce, Brian Lumley, William Peter Blatty and settings like Delta Green RPG.

The Carcosa Mythos?[]

Though Carcosa and The King In Yellow are not directly mentioned, the background does mention The Cthulhu Mythos - plus one of the creators is responsible for the King-In-Yellow-centric Insylum RPG.

System[]

NEMESIS uses the ORE system, first introduced in Godlike, in which the dice pool rolling system where matching results on dice are formed into sets to help determine the outcome of an action in how successfully and swiftly the action is performed. The name One-Roll comes from the nature that one roll of the dice determines the initiative, success, location and damage of an action.

As an update to the ORE system, NEMESIS introduces the Madness Meter which is derived from Unknown Armies RPG, to simulate insanity and mental tramua, replaces Hard dice with a new mechanic of Expert dice, and renames Wiggle dice to Trump dice, since Wiggle does sounds silly in a horror setting.
